Local SEO in Ealing and West London

Getting your business into the three map results that sit above everything else on Google, in front of the people searching within a few miles of you.

If you run a business in Ealing, Acton, Chiswick, Hanwell, or anywhere across West London, most of your potential customers are finding suppliers the same way. They pull out a phone, type what they need plus roughly where they are, and pick from the handful of businesses Google shows them on the map.

If you are not in that handful, you are not in the running. Not because your business is worse, but because Google has not been given enough to work with.

That is the gap I close. I am a digital marketing consultant based in West London with over 10 years of experience, and I have spent that time getting small businesses found by the people nearest to them.

Why local SEO matters more than general SEO

Competing for “accountant” nationally is a fight you will not win against firms with a hundred times your budget. Competing for the people within three miles of your door is a fight you can absolutely win, and those are the customers who actually convert.

Google names three things that decide who appears in local results:

  • Relevance. How well your listing and your site match what the person searched for.
  • Distance. How far you are from the person searching, measured from them, not from the town centre.
  • Prominence. How well known you are, which Google says is influenced by links to your site and by your review count and score.

The honest part: you cannot change distance. Someone searching from Chiswick will see Chiswick businesses first, however good your Ealing listing is. That is why the work concentrates on relevance and prominence, which are the two you can actually move.

The map results sit above everything else

On a phone, the block of three local businesses takes up most of the first screen. Everything else, including the ordinary blue links you may have spent years working on, sits below it. Winning a place in that block is usually worth more than ranking fourth in the normal results.

If your listing is not appearing at all, I have set out the six usual causes in why a business does not show on Google Maps.

It now decides whether AI recommends you too

When someone asks ChatGPT or Google’s AI results to suggest a local supplier, the answer gets pulled from real websites with clear, trustworthy, well-structured content. The same signals that win the map pack are the ones that get you named in an AI answer, which I have written about in my guide to SEO for AI search.

It compounds, and you own it

Paid ads stop the day you stop paying. A properly optimised site and listing keep working. That is the difference between renting visibility and owning it.

E-E-A-T: the trust signals that decide whether Google takes you seriously

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. In plain English, Google is looking for evidence that a real, qualified business with genuine experience is behind the website, and that it can be trusted.

It has always mattered. Since AI writing tools filled the internet with competent, forgettable content on every topic, it matters far more, because these signals are what separate a real business from a page of generated text. I have written the detailed version in my E-E-A-T guide.

What that looks like on a local business site

  • A real named person behind the content. Author bylines linking to a proper profile with credentials, not “posted by admin”.
  • Verifiable expertise. Qualifications, accreditations, trade body memberships, and registration numbers, shown with links so they can be checked.
  • Genuine local proof. Named areas you actually serve, real photos of your premises or your team, and work you have actually done nearby.
  • Consistent details everywhere. The same business name, address, and phone number on your site, your Google Business Profile, and every directory.
  • Reviews handled properly. Asked for openly, never incentivised, never filtered, and replied to including the difficult ones.
  • Working trust pages. A privacy policy that reflects what you actually do, clear terms, a complaints route, and a contact page with a real address or service area.
  • Content only you could have written. Specifics from your own work, not the generic version anyone could publish.

I audit all of this and give you a prioritised list, because the same things that build trust with Google build trust with the customer reading the page.

What the work involves, and what it costs

These are my standard SEO packages, applied to local search. All are one-off projects rather than a rolling monthly fee, so you know what you are spending before we start.

Bronze · £600

One-off, 2 to 4 weeks, 10 pages included.

Google Analytics and Search Console set up, Rank Math configured properly, on-page work across 10 pages, and your sitemap submitted. £50 per extra page, Bing Webmaster Tools £60.

Silver · £1,000

One-off, 3 to 6 weeks, 15 pages included.

Everything in Bronze, plus competitor analysis across three local rivals, backlink analysis, and schema markup so your listing stands out in the results.

Gold · £1,800

One-off, 6 to 8 weeks, 25 pages included. Recommended for local.

Everything in Silver, plus Google Business Profile and local directory setup, a technical audit, and extended keyword research.

Worth being straight about: the Google Business Profile and local directory work sits in Gold. Bronze and Silver build the foundations underneath it and are the right starting point if your site needs the basics first, but if the map results are your priority, Gold is the one that covers them.

Beyond that, Ruby starts at £3,000 for established businesses in competitive markets who need ongoing link-building, a content plan, and regular reporting.

Why work with me

I am based in West London and I have been doing this for over 10 years. I have worked with 300+ therapy professionals across the UK alongside small businesses closer to home, on website design, SEO, and the local search work that actually brings enquiries in.

Everything is built on WordPress with Rank Math, which is the setup I know inside out. I do the work myself, so the person who audits your site is the person who fixes it.

I will also tell you when you do not need me. If your problem is a half-hour job you can do yourself, that is what the free audit will say.

Nearby areas I cover

The local search problem looks different depending on where you are, so I have written these up separately: local SEO in Acton, where the area name fragments across half a dozen sub-areas, and local SEO in Chiswick, where every competitor is equally close and reviews decide it.

I also work across Hanwell, Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush, and Brentford, and with clients across the UK. There is an older guide for businesses in Hammersmith and Fulham too.

Frequently asked questions

How long before I see results?

Verification and listing changes show up within a few days to two weeks. Meaningful movement in the map results normally takes two to three months, because prominence builds slowly. Anyone promising you page one in a fortnight is selling something.

No. I am based in West London and work across Acton, Chiswick, Hanwell, Hammersmith, and the surrounding boroughs, and with clients across the UK.

Yes. Google has a setting called a service-area business that keeps your address private and shows only the areas you cover. I cover it in detail in why a business does not show on Google Maps.

No. Bronze, Silver, and Gold are one-off projects with a fixed price and a defined timeline. Monthly maintenance is available as an add-on if you want it, but it is not required.

Sometimes it is, and the audit will say so. SEO on a slow, thin website has very little to work with. In that case I would look at the website first, because it is what everything else rests on.

It helps. My packages assume WordPress with Rank Math, which is what I build on. If you are on another platform I will be honest with you at the audit stage about what does and does not carry across.
