About the project
Kjell Folkvord is a London artist who makes colourful abstract work, and this abstract artist website in London is his online portfolio. He describes his pieces as expressing the feelings that come from looking and listening, rather than what he sees.
The site gives visitors a place to look through the work, read about the artist, and get in touch.
My work on the site
I built the site from scratch, working closely with Kjell and another designer. The aim was a clean, easy way to look through his paintings, with the artwork taking centre stage.
Behind the simple look is a considerable amount of bespoke coding and customisation in WordPress and Elementor.
I also look after the site’s SEO, so it shows up when people search for abstract art in London. Over six months the website had three times as many visitors.
It runs on my managed hosting, where I keep WordPress and its plugins up to date, watch its security, and take regular backups.
What visitors find
The home page is kept simple, with Kjell’s name, a short welcome in his own words, and a menu that leads straight to the work. The work is arranged by theme, including Music, Time, Nature, History, and Places.
Elsewhere on the site are his artist statement, artist CV, exhibitions, and a blog.
If you are an artist who wants a site that lets the work speak for itself, have a look at my website design.
