About the project
Chiswick Business is a business directory website for Chiswick and W4, listing local businesses, sole traders and professionals. It grew out of the Chiswick Business Network, a group of local owners who have been meeting for coffee and swapping referrals since 2016.
Alongside the listings it offers free and paid membership and a calendar of local business events.
My work on the site
I designed and built the site on WordPress, together with Jeannie Shapiro. Visitors can search for a business or service, browse categories from accountants to yoga therapists, and see upcoming events from the home page.
The site is hosted and maintained by me, with regular WordPress updates, security checks and backups.
What visitors find
A searchable directory of more than 130 businesses, a free basic listing, and Verified and Spotlight membership for businesses that want a fuller profile or a place on the home page. There is a community events calendar, FAQs, and plain-English guides on getting found online, including one on setting up a Google Business Profile.
