About the project
The British Bilingual Poetry Collective is a London community interest company founded by Shamim Azad in 2016, and this poetry collective website in London is where it shares its workshops and events. Its aim is to make multilingual poetry more accessible and to use it to support mental wellbeing and cultural heritage in marginalised communities.
In the workshops, people write, perform, and translate poetry. The collective works with groups such as senior citizens and BAME communities, and experienced poets and facilitators lead the sessions.
My work on the site
I designed and built the site in WordPress and Elementor. The menu separates the collective’s services, an archive, a Join Us page for clients and poets, a contact page, and a Donate page.
I host the site as well, keeping WordPress and its plugins up to date, watching its security, and making regular backups.
What visitors find
Workshops and Events pages sit under Explore in the footer, so visitors can see what is on and how to take part. The site also links to the collective’s Instagram, X, and Facebook pages.
